The Local Shed is a child friendly classic in Rouse Hill which has had a couple of name changes over the years but maintains a great environment to take the kids and eat good food.
Meet the mothers group here
This is a really spacious, light and airy cafe featuring lots of seating inside and out, so perfect for a mothers group all with prams. They provide high chairs and have good toilet facilities with a baby change table. The staff are also very accommodating and will be happy to heat a bottle up if needed.
Fun for the kids
To keep the kids interested at the table, The Local Shed has colouring-in books and pens but if they have some energy to burn, there’s an brilliant playground right next door to The Local Shed The high variety, all ages and abilities playground has sand pits, climbing frames, a mini castle, a water pump, slippery slides and a climbing snake that snakes its way around the whole playground. It’s worth noting the playground isn’t enclosed and the cafe is surrounded by plants, which can hinder a clear view of the kids in the playground. Depending on the age of your children, this activity may be best left before or after you have eaten.
Good food for everyone
The dedicated kids menu delivers tasty food for little people, if not somewhat large in portion. Each main also comes with a scoop of ice-cream. There’s a good range of drinks including kid-size milkshakes and babycinos. For the adults, the food (lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday nights) is middle eastern inspired designed for sharing. Breakfast has a few classics thrown in amongst some interested dishes you’re unlikely to find at another cafe. The portions are large and the food is fantastic.
