Once a plain, kiosk-style cafe filled with ice-cream cabinets, The Boathouse Balmoral (at Balmoral Beach) opened in March 2013 and has since bloomed into a somewhat chicly styled empire. The first of the 3 venues (others on Palm Beach and Shelly Beach) is located on the Esplanade along Balmoral Beach in Mosman, situated over Middle Harbour.
Framed by the spectacular views and water the Boathouse Balmoral offers it all – a beachside setting, fresh modern Australian cuisine, rustic furnishings and interiors as well as an abundance of flowers and plants. Think white picnic benches, wooden deckchairs, blackboard menus and potted vegetation to create a smart but casual eatery with an inclusive nature. It’s easy to pass an afternoon here sipping on some chilled rosé with your mum friends, with the baby napping in the pram while surrounded by vases of fresh-cut blooms. (Insert happy sigh here).
Out & About Baby Tip
Aside from being right on the beach, there is a fantastic fenced park right out the front of the Balmoral Boathouse, so it’s a great place to grab a takeaway and let the kids run off some steam.
Plenty of parking available along the Esplanade. But it’s all metered and timed and the parking cops can be nasty. You have been warned…
Baby Change Facilities
There is a drop down baby change mat in the disabled toilet.
