Mr Burton is an amazing café and eatery in Ashburton, Victoria, that accommodates families and children, while providing great service and even better food. Whether you want to stop in and grab a coffee and cake to go, or you want to stay and dine in for the full experience, this is the place for you
Mr Burton is located in the beautiful inner-city suburb of Ashburton, Melbourne, Victoria, which is where the name for the café comes from. The café is in a prime position, right on the main street of the suburb, and there is plenty of parking in the area, as well as a large carpark just down the road from the premises. It is also only a few minutes away from Ashburton Train Station, and has a bus stop right out the front, so even if you don’t drive, there are plenty of ways to get to the café.
The café has a great menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the restaurant prides itself on using ingredients sourced from local businesses and farmers. The menu accomadates many different diets and food preferences, so there is really something for everyone. They even have a few vegetarian options for your friend who doesn’t eat meat or seafood.
The two nights that the restaurant is open for dinner are Wednesday and Sunday night, and both of them have a different themed menu. The Wednesday night menu has a Greek theme, and they offer souvlaki, Greek salad, schooled prawns, saganaki, and their famous lamb on the spit, which is sensational. Sunday night is Mexican night, and the menu includes pork sliders, tacos, nachos, spicy chicken burgers, and it wouldn’t be Mexican night without a frozen Margarita for $10 to cap it off. Both of the themed nights fill up fast every week, so try to book in advance if you can, because they are definitely worth it.
Mr Burton offers a great kids menu that has many of your favourite dishes fit for your little prince or princess. The kids menu offers your usual pancakes, eggs and toast, and a vegemite and cheese toastie, and then fish, nuggets or burgers with chips for lunch but the kids will love them all just the same.
There is also a designated kids area on the premises, so you can sit back and watch the kids play, while you indulge in a coffee and a freshly made pastry. The play area is on the outside of the premises, in the courtyard and is equip with all the toys you could think of. The play area has astro-turf covering the ground, so it’s safe for kids to run around on, and they have a little black board with chalk, pencils and paper, as well as several plastic toys so they’ll be amused just long enough for you to finish your meal. Highchairs are also available on request, and the café has easy access for prams.
Mr Burton is famous in the area for their little babycinos for the kids, so if your taking your little ones with you, treat them to a babycino so that they can look just as grown up as they feel.
