Located in the huge Yamble Reserve, with its vast smooth lawns you will find Livvi’s Place Ryde – a place where ALL members of the community, young and old, of all abilities and with all and any needs can enjoy themselves and play.
In November 2006, John and Justine Perkins tragically lost their baby daughter Olivia, at just 8 months old, to a rare illness. Their life, as they knew it, came crashing down with the immense sadness and numerous other mixed emotions that followed. This most devastating time of John and Justine’s life however has brought with it new meaning. A gift, if you like, with a message – a message to positively enhance the lives of children and their families in a significant way.
Founding the Touched by Olivia Foundation was the first step towards realising the dream that will become Olivia’s legacy. In her short life, Olivia touched many hearts. It is John and Justine’s hope that Olivia will continue to touch many more lives through the work undertaken by the Foundation.
The range of play equipment at Livvi’s Place Ryde is awesome. There is a very long double flying fox (similar to the one you will find at Livvi’s Place Five Dock), a large rope pyramid roundabout, a sandpit, a birds nest swing, a spinning dish, a musical play area and a car to climb all over! There’s a tunnel to play in and a large area covered with rubber softfall with handholds, excellent for people with mobility issues.
Themed play zones offer both stimulating and calming experiences. At the quieter area of the playground is a very beautiful series of pole artworks and the most gorgeous animal sculptures.
Here and throughout the park there are wonderful opportunities for tactile exploration.
Within the playground are bubblers, lots of picnic tables, BBQs.
If you do want to host a party here though, be warned you are probably in for an early start….
There is a toilet block is just outside the playground, with both child and adult change tables.
There are two parking areas for Yamble Reserve, with the one off Clermont Avenue providing easy access for visitors with mobility restrictions.
