It’s not a full exploration of Mexican flavours, nor do we experience the mind-numbing heat of some Mexican dishes. Rather, it’s a fresh simple take on Mexican food that Aussies love using local ingredients that zing with flavour. From fresh slices of luscious marinated fish in the Ceviche to Pescador Taco, corn chip-crusted fish with a fresh mango salsa and chilli lime dressing where you can eat the bowl, each dish sings with flavour.
And if you are lucky enough to have a kid free night La Barrita offers an extensive tequila selection (90+!) and plenty of delicious cocktails to choose from made with local produce.
The Kids Menu options at La Barrita are some of the best I’ve seen. Exemplifying a keep it simple mantra, there isn’t a hot chip in sight. The kids grazing plate is particularly impressive and will appeal to even the fussiest of eaters.
La Barrita does book out, and even though walk-ins are welcome, you might not get a spot, so do call if you want to dine in. Alternatively, you can always get your meals as takeaway to take back to your hotel or even have a picnic in the park across the road.
