The Dick Caplick Park, Eumundi, Queensland, is a large park nestled under a canopy of fig trees, right in the heart of the beautiful little town. Newly refurbished in 2015, the park caters to all ages with play equipment for younger and older kids to have fun on.
The Dick Caplick Park is located on Memorial Drive, Eumundi, right next door to the regional famous Eumundi markets, held every Wednesday (8am- 1pm) and Saturday (7am- 2pm). The town of Eumundi is about a 20-minute drive inland from Noosa Heads, and it is a quaint little country town that has much to offer visitors to the area.
The playground at the park is really something to be marvelled at, and has been well designed to work with the surroundings and features of the area. There are a lot of large fig trees in the area of the park, and the designers have taken this into account when they built the park’s central feature piece; a timber fort with a rope bridge that is suspended between the two trees. Another standout for the older kids is the new Roplay climbing ball, which is a large climbing structure with a metal frame and ropes on the inside, that the kids use to climb to the top.
For the younger kids, there is a large train that the kids can play on, as well as the standard park swings and a seesaw.
FOOD AND DRINK CLOSE BY
The park is conveniently located right in the centre of town, next to the Eumundi markets, so even when the markets aren’t on, there is still food and drink available at many of the local shops and cafes within walking distance.
There are also BBQ facilities available at the park, as well as tables and chairs, so you can bring down some lunch and have a nice little family picnic in the park. There are also public toilets at the park, so you won’t have to worry about that either.
There are several spots around either entrance of the park where parking is available, but you’ll have more luck getting a spot close by when the markets aren’t on, so keep that in mind when visiting.
OUT AND ABOUT BABY TIP
Although the parking may be limited when the markets are on, make a day of it and have the full Eumundi experience by visiting on one of the market days, so that you and the kids both have a great day and both get to do something fun.
