Part of the Penrith Regional Gallery, Cafe at Lewers is set on the banks of the picturesque Nepean River at the foot of the Blue Mountains and is a very tranquil and popular local cafe which also caters very well to children.

The cafe is set in the fabulous gardens surrounding the gallery and has both outdoor and covered seating to choose from with ample space for children to play. Street parking is available on River Rd and there is a wide accessible footpath to the cafe.

Popular for breakfast

There is a wide variety of options on both the breakfast and lunch menus and produce is mainly sourced locally, such as the free range eggs from the Hawkesbury and bacon out of Trunky Creek in Orange. They even grow a majority of vegetables and herbs from their own garden.

The coffee is well regarded and comes from Cassiopeia, located further up the Blue Mountains in Katoomba.

Kids activities

A child’s chalkboard lures budding artists to draw plus the gallery connected to the cafe runs monthly art classes for tots. These are held on the the last Friday of every month and welcome children ages 2-6.

At other times a wander through the small public gallery is also popular with kids, available at each and every visit.

Out & About Baby Tip

Cafe at Lewers does a roaring breakfast trade but this does not take away from the tranquil setting. Although do make a reservation on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
