Acre Eatery at Camperdown Commons is the farmer’s home. It is simple, practical, tactile, warm and intimate. The beautiful 350-seater restaurant, features stunning large wooden tables and Hamptons-style white chairs and booths. Every detail seems to have been meticulously chosen, from the signature wine glasses to the impeccably-presented table settings and dinnerware, which includes natural tree boards used as plates. The warm, bustling atmosphere is helped along by the incredibly professional and knowledgeable staff that also seem to have a personal stake in the restaurant’s concept.
The vision at Acre Eatery is to change the way people think about and consume food by providing a sustainable and delicious plate of food that is a better alternative to the sugar-filled and salty processed foods you see in the supermarkets or alternative menus.
The on-site partner, Pocket City Farms, farms all the sustainable produce with the balance sourced from a collection of small to medium sized farms located within the Sydney basin. The proteins are then sustainably sourced and are predominantly secondary cuts which are cooked slowly to release flavour. They also host a kids menu, making it the perfect place to get out and about with your little one or for a mum’s day out.
There is a Garden Terrace along the deep, wooden deck outside of the main restaurant. Sheltered and abounding with hand-carved tables and plenty of seating, the deck wraps around a roomy lawn complete with oversized umbrellas and rugs to lounge on.
Acre is part of Camperdown Commons which is a reinvigorated community hub that provides a welcoming inclusive space for locals of all ages and walks of life. The stunning transformation of the old dilapidated Camperdown Bowling Club into a full-blown urban farm and restaurant has turned the neglected space into a site for fresh organic produce and a farm-to-table eating.
A specially designed, hands-on kids play area takes up a corner of the property, allowing little ones to amuse themselves and each other for hours.
Away from the kids, they also host several events which you can check up on here.

Enjoyed an early Sunday evening dinner with my family which also included some live music. My 4 year old had the best time exploring the play area and looking around the garden. Such a kid friendly place, loads of room for the them to have a blast and a book collection to read of some ‘quiet time’ is needed! Lots of families about enjoying a Sunday afternoon session. Food and atmosphere were great.
Such a great space, loads of grass for the kids to run around on, an interactive play area and even some chickens to look at! The menu is pretty limited but the dishes they do have are amazing. It gets very busy on weekends so sometimes wla bit of a wait for a table if you have a group.
Lunch and dinner are definitely better than breakfast but, I am a big fan of this place!
Sunday’s on the lawn enjoying the sunshine and live music are just perfect, with plenty of room for the kids to run around.
Small but solid menu. Great area for the kids to run around. Hard to imagine that you are in the middle of Sydney. The old bowls area have been turned into fab little veggie gardens. The kids menu was brilliant too…
Probably one of my favourite new places to go. The outdoor area is fantastic. The perfect place to go if you want a glass of wine with your girlfriends but still have the kids. Food is fantastic. And the kids menu is probably the best I have ever seen. Highly reccomended.
