PAST EVENT: Children’s First Aid Workshop

Would you know what to do if your child stopped breathing?

Do you know how to do CPR on your child in an emergency?

Claudia, a medical mum and Parentmedic Ambassador will be running this event to teach you the basic and most critical first aid skills you need to always keep your child safe and healthy.

Date: Saturday 21st July 2018

Time: 11AM-1PM

Location:  Tramsheds

Prior to the the training component we will start at The Butcher and The Farmer for some coffees and snacks at 11am.  You will find us actually inside the tram at Tramsheds!!!!

After we have all met each other and settled into our groove, the first aid workshop will be held in the BoxingWorks gym at the back of Tramsheds beginning at Midday.

Cost: $39.71 (incl GST)

In this 1 hour training session you will learn:

  • Baby and Children CPR (with hands on practice)
  • What to do in the event of a choking incident in detail (with opportunity for hands on practice)

It wouldn’t be a social club event without the opportunity to be social and meet other mums! So before the training session, we will be sipping on some bellini’s at The Butcher and the Farmer.

But be quick. Tickets sell fast and this small event is limited to just 20 tickets.

*This is a child friendly event so feel free to bring your little ones. BUT, if you want to make the most of the event on the weekend, get dad to watch the kids for a couple of hours and join us solo for some quality Mum fun.

What does your ticket get you?

The cost of your ticket will get you:

  • all the training from Parentmedic on the day.
  • A delicious brunch with teas and coffee before the training at Butcher and the Farmer.
  • Membership into our exclusive closed Facebook Group where we will be live streaming the training session so you can go back and re-watch it later incase there was something you missed or forget (or want to show your husband).

It’s our First Social Club event so Don’t be shy

So many new skills and experiences come with having a baby – the highs (and lows) of pregnancy, birth, finding somewhere to live near to a good school rather than a good pub… the list goes on. One that doesn’t even occur to most of us is the fact that we’ll be making lots of new friends and we’re going to have to chat them up.

Be a little bit bold – a compliment on a baby carrier or sympathetic comment to a mum with a screaming little one could lead to a life-long friendship.

More about our expert, Claudia:

first aid 101My name is Claudia and I am one of the Parentmedic Ambassadors from the Parentmedic Movement.  I also have 2 young kids who are 2.5 yrs and 5 yrs old so I understand the realities of being a mum and what it’s like trying to coordinate schedules and pack a baby bag one handed.

Before becoming a mum, I studied Medicine.  I worked as a doctor in a few Sydney hospitals, spending my time mostly at The Children’s Hospital in Westmead. I have also trained as a certified educator with the Parentmedic Institute and love continuing to work with the Parentmedic Movement.

But it is as a fellow mum and parent that gives me the passion to empower other mums with the knowledge and confidence to know what to do in emergency situations.  I know how scary it is when my children are unwell and want to help you manage it to the best of your ability.  It’s not easy, but it might help.

More about Parentmedic:

The Parentmedic Movement is a global social enterprise with a focus on making first aid education and training accessible and affordable to every parent and carer in the world. They are generously donating their time to us to achieve their vision of every child being cared for by someone with the confidence & knowledge to keep them safe and supported. They love to support and contribute to the community at events like this by aiding parents and carers with the essential information they need to handle emergency medical situations until help arrives.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Located in Glebe, next door to Jubilee Park, Tramsheds is easily accessible via Sydney Light Rail with the Jubliee Station at the back door. Alternatively, there is plenty of paid outdoor and undercover car-parking available with the first 2 hours free.

What’s on the brunch menu?

The Butcher and Farmer team is going to fill your hungry bellies with delicious morning treats from their brunch menu that includes Baby Ricotta Hotcakes with Lemon Curd, Berries, Passionfruit, Pepitas, and Yoghurt. YUM! There will also be a selection of teas and coffee on offer.  We will be in touch in the few days prior to the event to take your order in advance and check on any dietary requirements.
